Pentagon I, the synthesizer software from Cakewalk, gives you the advantages of both analog synthesizer and the virtual instruments.
The user interface is comfortable and the lay out is very user friendly with full parameter read on mouse over. The looks of the GUI is also customizable as the Skin Brightness, Contrast and Color Balance are adjustable. It has got many powerful features like a good MIDI learn features. There are 10 individual MIDI configurations, with Clear/Copy/Paste configurations capabilities. Then it has got 4 oscillators and 13 alias free wave forms to generate some really nice sounds, as well as enough envelopes to really shape every step of the process. The voice modulator allows you control any external audio source. There are 5 Pitch Bend modes. Pitch Bend range adjustable up to +12 semitones. The features of Pentagon include 6 banks (A-F), 768 program capacity and 300 top-quality factory presets. All effects can be disabled to save CPU. The bank files can be in a compressed format to save space in song/bank files. The songs can be saved and loaded as standard .fxb and .fxp files. A special file format is added to reload USER Wavetable when reloading songs/programs (.p1). The 2x over sampling option makes the sound closer to true analog sound.
